Position: Teaching Assistant

Start Date: April 27- Aug 6, 2026

This course is 36 classes, approximately 3 half days per week.


Course Content Overview:
Students will become familiar with the adapted Cyriax Model of Musculoskeletal Assessment.


They will then develop the following specific assessment skills: patient history taking,
purposeful observation, postural assessment, palpation assessment, functional assessment,
range of motion assessment, muscle length assessment, muscle strength assessment,
introduction to joint play assessment, neurological assessment, special tests, gait assessment
and Modify assessments based upon assessment findings. Ultimately the student will learn to
perform , document, critically analyze/modify and integrate these assessment skills while
maintaining patient and therapist safety.


Teaching Assistant Responsibilities include:
 Familiarize yourself with the course outline and class materials prepared by the lead instructor
 Communicating with the lead instructor to ensure an integrated presentation of material
 Assist students with hands-on techniques
 Answer questions and facilitate learning for multiple learning styles
 Inputting marks and taking attendance
 Attending staff meetings and performance reviews
 Submit accurate payroll timesheets on time

The ideal candidate for this role has been an RMT for 2+ years, maintains good standing with
the CCHPBC and has a passion for the profession of massage therapy. You have shown an
interest in continual education in the field and want to share the foundational knowledge
required to enter the profession as well as your experience as an RMT.

Massage Theory and Practice

This course is 35 classes, approximately 3 half days per week. 

Course Content Overview:

MTP300 builds on the foundations of MTP100 and MTP200. Non-Swedish techniques including Golgi Tendon Organ release, Trigger Point release, Muscle Approximation, Origin and Insertion, Pressure Point, Cyriax frictions, Direct/Indirect fascial, scar tissue and lymphatic drainage are explored. Students will further develop and integrate assessment skills learned to date. The student will be introduced to the physiology of tissue healing and the inflammatory process, and how it relates to assessing and treating clients in the acute, sub-acute and chronic stages of healing. The student will then be introduced to the assessment and treatment of General Orthopedic soft tissue conditions.

Position Overview:
OVCMT is seeking passionate and experienced Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) to join our team as Clinical Supervisors. If you’re excited to support the next generation of massage therapists while remaining active in your profession, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether your background includes experience in pregnancy massage, sports therapy, oncology massage, scar tissue treatment, orthopedic, neurological, or systemic conditions, your skills are valuable to our diverse learning environment.

This position could range from 2.5 to 12 hours per week—schedules are known in advance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise students in the on-site clinic to ensure safe, effective, and ethical treatment of patients.
  • Support and assess clinical charting, guiding students in producing documentation that meets current professional standards.
  • Demonstrate and teach massage techniques as they arise in real-time clinical situations.
  • Coach students on professionalism in a healthcare setting, including communication, conduct, and patient-centered care.
  • Provide feedback and evaluations that help students grow in skill, confidence, and competence.

Qualifications

  • Current registration and good standing with the CCHPBC (or applicable governing body) with a minimum  2 year of practice
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to advancing the massage therapy profession.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in an educational support role is an asset.
  • Teaching certificate or equivalent educational credentials/experience preferred 
  • Eagerness to share foundational knowledge and real-world experience with future RMTs.
