Program Prerequisites


  1. Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).
  2. English 12 (or equivalent) at 70% or higher.
  3. The successful completion of the Introduction to Massage Workshop designed for applicants of the Massage Therapy diploma program.
  4. Successful applicant interview.

*Due to the academic rigor of the program, prospective student should have a background in Biology 12, or post secondary sciences or have demonstrated the ability to achieve at post secondary level. Students who do not have this background may apply, and may be required to complete the Human Science college  prep course with a passing grade.

**OV’s RMT program is based on competitive entry. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee entry.

The Introduction to Massage Workshop


This Introduction to Massage Workshop is designed for applicants and potential applicants to OV College of Massage Therapy, or for applicants planning to attend  other professional massage therapy colleges in B.C.

This 2 day  prerequisite course focuses on an introduction to the practical and professional aspects of the programs available at OV. It is an opportunity for hands-on experience  and is intended to support the applicant in his/her decision making process when considering massage therapy as a career. It is an opportunity for applicants to have fun and meet potential classmates.

Successful completion in this prerequisite course is required for entry into the RMT program. Suitability is assessed by instructor and is considered for advancement to next level of application process

The workshop is a two-day weekend event, from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm both Saturday and Sunday. The cost of this workshop is $283.50 (including tax), which includes a set of sheets that are required for the workshop and will be used in the program. See below for registration forms.

Human Science and College Preparation Course Online


Thinking of pursuing an education in Massage Therapy? Lacking basic biology, or has it been a few years?

Adults returning to school often ask themselves, “Can I do this?” The Human Science College Prep Course will help you to develop your skills in preparation for the first year curriculum at OV College of Massage Therapy. The time management and study skills information offered will prepare you to reach your educational goals. Positive feedback from our first year students and graduates indicate this preparation course has equipped them for the significant science  components of first year. The course content is designed to support you in your transition to full-time education.

Language Proficiency Policy


Instruction is conducted in English. Students whose first language is not English must satisfy one of the following requirements. These requirements are admission requirements and may not be waived. Students must also demonstrate during the interview process that they have the language abilities necessary to successfully complete the program

  • Language Proficiency Index (LPI) of 4 with an essay score of no less than 26 (Massage Therapy Program) or 25 (Spa Practitioner Program), or by passing a college or university level English course
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL IBT) with a minimum score of 86 or better with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four components (listening, speaking, writing, reading)
  • International English Language Testing (IELTS) with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no other component score less than 6.0
  • Additional English language tests may be considered
