OVCMT has a reputation for well-rounded and professional graduates since 1994. Our Massage Therapy Program is in full compliance with the College of Massage Therapists of BC (CMTBC) and the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) curriculum guidelines and accreditation requirements.
The two year diploma program prepares you to complete the Registration exams, become a Registered Massage Therapist, and start or join a practice. After year one you have the option of receiving a Spa Practitioner Certificate. As a Massage Therapy program graduate you will have earned more than half the credits needed for a Bachelor of Health Science Degree at Thompson Rivers University – Open Learning Agency.
The Massage Therapy program offers a unique mix of academic and practical courses combined with extensive practicum experiences. Clinical practice experience includes the Student-operated Massage Clinic and a wide variety of Patient Outreach programs all totaling 550 hours. In Clinical Labs you practice on fellow students under the direction of practical instructors. In Student Clinic you practice and integrate your skills under the supervision and mentorship of experienced RMT clinical instructors. Our Outreach programs provide experience with a wide variety of patients and conditions, including orthopedic, systemic, neurological, cancer, scars, maternity, special needs, sports massage and high level athletes, corporate patients and geriatrics.
Located in beautiful Vernon, B.C. where the lifestyle is centred on outdoor living, our students appreciate the family-like atmosphere and community oriented spirit of the college. OVCMT is winner of the 2012 Community Supporter Award presented by the Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
