Meet Zoe Hamilton, RMT
As a practicing RMT since 2002, I often incorporate many of the instructional gems I learned from the personable and highly experienced instructors at OVCMT. In particular, I am grateful for the emphasis on professional behaviour and ethics, as time and again I have had both the opportunity to use what I have learned at OVCMT, and to witness examples of the absence of such professionalism. In one memorable incident, a colleague and former classmate laughingly remarked, “That was right out of communications class!” (And it was - thank you Pam!)
Many people ask if I grew up in Vernon when I tell them that I took my RMT training there. I didn't, but chose to study there in part to experience my schooling in a new-to-me city, which has a beautiful reputation. I thoroughly appreciated my three plus years in the Okanagan, due in part to the climate and the geography. I really loved the local lakes, hiking hills, and Ski Mountain. I loved that if I was going to be immersed in school for more than three years, I could refresh myself simply by stepping outside into the sun, or gliding into the cool waters of Kalamalka or Okanagan lakes.
What I love about massage therapy is that it can be tailored to my preferences (as far as where, how and how often I practice) and that I find a lot about it rewarding, on many different levels. One of the things I find most satisfying is that regardless of the details of a patient's situation, regardless of whether or not I feel that I have a thorough understanding of exactly what will help them best as far as treatment is concerned, I truly have the intention of helping them. They usually express finding the treatment beneficial to them to one degree or another.
I have had the unique opportunity to work on a patient who ended up taking the three year program in Vernon. I can't help but appreciate the unique circles of growth that I, and now she, have experienced. It makes me happy to share with others the wonderful, albeit challenging, years that I was blessed to experience at O.V.C.M.T., and can't recommend it enough for those that are choosing to pursue their studies as an RMT.

Lee Taschuk, RMT
I have been an RMT since October 2007 in BC. I love the freedom that being a massage therapist gives me to make my own hours and the satisfaction of knowing that I am helping people of all ages to improve their health.
I found the Administration and teaching staff at OVCMT very supportive and encouraging during my time at the school and all are very well qualified.
I highly recommend OVCMT.

Meet Donna Wood, RMT
I have been a massage therapist since 2005. Presently, I am employed at a massage clinic in the United States. The clinic employs many massage therapists with different backgrounds and training. I find that with the extensive training from OVCMT, which exceeds most North American massage requirements, I feel more confident and knowledgeable with my client's conditions and issues. The many facets of this school have given me the tools I need to achieve this effective therapy.
The school itself is situated in an ideal location of downtown, Vernon, BC. The city of Vernon is picturesque and fueled with a vibrant energy. There is easy access to all the amenities, from dining to residential. The school is filled with spacious classrooms and a full working clinic. OVCMT provided a substantial amount of resources to assist me in my studies.
The instructors of OVCMT are extremely knowledgeable, with diverse experience. They are very caring and attentive in order to ensure your success as a student. Many classes have teaching assistants to allow for more one on one instruction time. The administration staff is pleasant, courteous, and easily accessible.
I experienced not only the outstanding knowledge that OVCMT had to offer, but also individual growth, which helped to create a foundation for myself as a professional. At OVCMT, I created bonds and relationships with classmates that were unique and grounding. The bonds with my classmates helped support me, guiding me as I completed the program. The support you receive is like that of a caring family network, which builds and continues to grow.
OVCMT's program pushes you to succeed and perform at your best. It provides abundant instruction, from anatomy and physiology to business and communications. However, the intense curriculum still allows for mental preparation and self-care; within the professional realm, these are essential for any lasting success. I loved all the hands-on clinical experience and outreach programs. Supporting mentors allow students to feel the realism of actually being in the field as a therapist, but still have the security of an experienced therapist present.
I will always be thankful for my time and training at OVCMT. OVCMT helped me become the compassionate therapist I continually strive to be.
